DALE KURSCHNER

Dale grew up on a farm near Hutchinson, MN, where he came to love all things outdoors and appreciate the bond between people and their dogs (as well as horses; he was an avid bare-back rider).

Today, he spends as much time outdoors as he can by running, biking, hiking, BWCA trips, skiing, fishing, boating... And this may help explain why he spends about seven hours on frozen scaffolding each year announcing the race! He also serves on our board, leads communications/media relations, and helps with fundraising and governance matters.

Dale’s day job is as an executive consultant, where he taps 30 years of leadership experience to help business owners buy or sell businesses, solve tough challenges, or plot new courses for growth. His background includes award-winning investigative-style journalism, most recently as editor-in-chief of Twin Cities Business and as an on-air financial commentator for KARE11-TV and WCCO-AM.

Dale lives in Excelsior and has served on the city’s planning commission and council. He volunteers for various community-enhancing events, and his favorite by far is the Klondike Dog Derby!
